Times Square Casino: Rallies Clash Amidst Proposal
Some people want to build a casino in Times Square, New York City, while others don't.
Those against it worry it could hurt Broadway and local businesses.
Those for it say it'll make the area safer and bring more people.
Both sides are holding rallies this week to share their views.
The company proposing the casino also said it would give money to a local health center if their casino plan is approved.
Opponents and supporters of a proposed Times Square casino are holding separate rallies in New York City.
Anti-casino groups, including the Broadway League, rallied on June 25th in Times Square.
The casino's proponents, including SL Green and Caesars Entertainment, will rally on June 26th.
Opponents argue a casino could harm Broadway and the local economy, while developers promise safety improvements.
Developers have pledged $5 million to Callen-Lorde Community Health Center if the bid succeeds.
