BMC Seizes ₹25 Lakh Worth of Unauthorized Tobacco Products in A-Ward
The BMC in Mumbai's A Ward has been cracking down on unauthorized tobacco sales.
From July 1 to July 23, they raided 123 pan-bidi shops and seized goods worth around ₹25 lakh.
These items included cigarettes, gutkha, and other tobacco products.
On Thursday, they specifically targeted stalls outside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and seized goods worth ₹1.5 lakh.
The BMC is taking action because these stalls, while authorized to sell pan, do not have the necessary licenses to sell cigarettes and other tobacco items.
This crackdown is part of a broader effort by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to enforce regulations across the city.
