Suspected Pakistani Drone Sightings Trigger Search Along Rajouri LoC
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir saw what they believed were drones near the border with Pakistan.
The border is called the Line of Control, or LoC.
Soldiers became more alert and reportedly fired at the drones.
One report said the drones were seen around midnight near Rumlidhara.
Another report said a drone was seen at about 8:05 p.m.
near Behrooti on August 28.
The reports give different times and locations for the sightings.
Soldiers tracked one drone toward the Mangalnar-Dabrote area.
They are searching nearby land to make sure nobody crossed the border or dropped dangerous items.
Security forces launched search operations in Rajouri after suspected Pakistani drones were reported along the Line of Control.
One report placed the sighting around midnight in Rumlidhara, in the Nowshera sector, while another reported a UAV over Behrooti at about 8:05 p.m. on August 28.
Alert troops reportedly opened fire, causing the suspected drones to retreat from the border.
The UAV was tracked toward the Mangalnar-Dabrote axis, prompting increased aerial and ground surveillance.
Forces are searching forward areas to rule out infiltration and possible drops of weapons, contraband or other material.
