Modi Inaugurates India’s 2,800-Kilometre Freight Corridor, Targets Critics

India has finished building a special railway network for carrying goods.

It is called the Dedicated Freight Corridor and is about 2,800 kilometres long.

The freight tracks are separate from passenger-train tracks, which can help both types of trains move faster.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said one double-level freight train carried as much as more than 250 trucks.

He said freight trains can now travel more quickly and may use less fuel.

Modi said the project was planned in 2004 but moved slowly until 2014.

He joked that an unhappy critic, whom he called “Naraz Fufa,” now had work to complain about.

He also criticised a Congress campaign and called on young people to learn artificial intelligence.

At the same event, he announced or inaugurated several other rail, road, housing, water and energy projects.
