Ukraine War Talks Reportedly Expand to Multibillion-Dollar Lukoil Deal

Ukraine War Talks Reportedly Expand to Multibillion-Dollar Lukoil Deal

A report says that talks between the United States and Russia about ending the war in Ukraine also include a possible oil deal.

The deal could involve oil fields, refineries and gas stations owned by Lukoil in different parts of the world.

It would be worth billions of dollars, according to the report.

The deal would need approval from both the US government and the Kremlin.

The group reportedly pursuing it includes investor Todd Boehly, two Middle Eastern groups and part of the US government.

The report says Vladimir Putin brought up the proposal at a meeting on September 5.

That meeting was held at the Kremlin with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

One person familiar with the meeting said Putin wanted the deal to show Russians they could do business with the United States.
