Jeffrey Archer’s Life Spanned Books, Politics, Scandal and Reinvention

Jeffrey Archer was a British writer who also took part in politics.

He died at the age of 86 on October 5.

Before becoming a famous novelist, he faced financial trouble.

His first novel, But Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, came out in 1976.

Books including Kane and Abel became very popular, and his works sold more than 300 million copies.

Archer also climbed the ranks of the Conservative Party and hoped to hold high office.

A libel case was followed by his conviction for perjury and a prison sentence.

He later used experiences from prison as material for more books.
