Mumbai Approves Revised Amnesty Scheme for Non-OC Buildings
The government of Mumbai has approved a new plan to help people living in buildings without proper papers.
This plan allows buildings built before November 17, 2016, to get legal approval.
The government will not charge any penalty for six months if people apply within that time.
This plan helps many people, but some experts think it's a political move to get votes.
The city government will now make rules to follow this plan.
The state urban development department approved the BMC's revised amnesty scheme for Non-OC buildings on December 11, 2023.
The cut-off date for eligibility was extended to November 17, 2016, from January 6, 2012.
No penalty will be levied for buildings that convert Free FSI features to habitable use if applied within six months.
The scheme will include hospitals and school buildings but exclude commercial constructions.
Over 20,000 Non-OC buildings in Mumbai are expected to benefit from this policy.
