India Launches Digipin: A Digital Address Solution
Imagine every place in India has its own special code, like a secret address, created by the government.
This code, called Digipin, is made of letters and numbers and helps delivery people and emergency services find you easier.
You don't need the internet to use it; it works even in remote areas.
It makes sure your deliveries and help get to the exact spot, no matter where you live, making it easier for everyone to find any location.
This system works in partnership with Indian satellites for precise location, making it an extra helpful tool.
India Post launched Digipin, a geo-coded digital address system, to solve last-mile issues.
Digipin converts geo-location data into a 10-character alphanumeric code for precise location identification.
The system divides India into grids of ~3.8m x 3.8m, assigning each a unique Digipin code.
Users can obtain their Digipin code via their device's location access without needing to log in.
Digipin enhances service accuracy, reduces delays, and cuts costs for logistics and emergency services.
