HC Directs Centre to Ensure Safety of Indian Nurse in Dubai
A young Indian nurse went to Dubai for a job but is now allegedly being held captive by a foreign man.
Her father asked the Indian government and the Indian office in Dubai to help bring her back safely.
A court in Delhi told the government to check if the nurse is safe and to help her return to India if she wants to.
The court also asked the government to tell them what they did to help within two weeks.
The nurse's father said that the man took her passport and visa, and she was not allowed to come back to India.
He also said that she was being treated badly and sent pictures to prove it.
The court will hear more about this case on December 15.
The Delhi High Court directed the Centre and the Indian Consulate in Dubai to ensure the safety of a 25-year-old Indian nurse allegedly held captive by a foreign national.
The court asked the authorities to help the woman return to India if she wishes and to file a status report within two weeks.
The nurse's father, V Thirunavukkarasu, filed a petition claiming his daughter was offered a job in Dubai, but her communication with the family reduced, and she was not allowed to return.
The plea alleged that the foreign national seized the nurse's passport and visa, and the father received a distress call from his daughter stating she was subjected to physical abuse.
The court will hear the matter further on December 15.
