Uttarakhand Constable Sher Singh Sacked Over Jantar Mantar Protest

Uttarakhand Constable Sher Singh Sacked Over Jantar Mantar Protest

A police constable named Sher Singh worked in the Pithoragarh district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

One day, he went to New Delhi to join a protest organised by a group called the Cockroach Janata Party.

At the protest, he spoke from the stage and said he was resigning from his job.

He also claimed that answer sheets for the state's Patwari recruitment exam were being sold at grocery shops.

A video of his speech spread widely on the internet.

His police department was not happy because police officers are not allowed to take part in political demonstrations.

They investigated his behaviour and found that he had broken service rules.

They also noted he had not come to work since June 28 without permission.

So the police dismissed him from his job right away.

His senior officers said the strict action was taken to keep discipline and maintain public trust in the force.
