CapitaLand raises S$150 million for India data centres
CapitaLand Investment Ltd and CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT) have raised S$150 million for a new fund called CIDCF.
This fund will buy a 20.2% stake in three big data centres in Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
These data centres are either already working or being built and can provide a lot of power.
The fund plans to raise more money, up to S$300 million, and might also get a chance to invest in a fourth data centre in Bengaluru.
CLINT is selling part of its stake to get money earlier and keep some for future growth.
This is important because India's need for data centres is growing fast due to more cloud use and new technology.
CapitaLand Investment Ltd raised S$150 million at the first close of its CapitaLand India Data Centre Fund (CIDCF).
The fund will acquire a 20.2% interest in three data centre assets in Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai for S$99.73 million.
The data centres have a combined gross power capacity of 200 MW and are either operational or under development.
The fund is targeting a final close of around S$300 million and has a right of first offer for a fourth data centre in Bengaluru.
India's data centre capacity is expected to double by 2027 due to cloud adoption, data localization, and AI growth.
