Allahabad HC: Mob Lynching Incidents Cannot Be Monitored in PIL
The Allahabad High Court has said that each instance of mob lynching is a unique case and cannot be watched over by a general public interest lawsuit.
A group called Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind had filed a lawsuit asking the court to make sure everyone was following rules set by the Supreme Court to prevent mob violence.
The court decided that the people affected should first go to the government for help.
This decision came after the court looked at the specifics of a particular incident that happened in Uttar Pradesh.
Allahabad High Court states each mob lynching incident is separate.
Court's ruling followed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filing.
Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind filed the PIL concerning mob lynching incidents.
The PIL sought compliance with Supreme Court guidelines from the Tehseen Poonawalla case.
