IndiGo Tops UDAN Subsidy Chart with ₹1,200 Crore

IndiGo Tops UDAN Subsidy Chart with ₹1,200 Crore

IndiGo, India's largest airline, has received the most money from the government to help make flying cheaper in smaller cities.

This money, called viability gap funding, is part of a scheme called UDAN.

Over nine years, IndiGo got over ₹1,200 crore, and Alliance Air got over ₹1,000 crore.

Together, they got almost half of the total ₹4,881.10 crore given out.

This money helps airlines cover their costs when they start new routes in smaller cities.

It makes flying cheaper for people and helps new airlines grow.

Some people think this is good because it helps more people fly, while others think it might not be sustainable in the long run.
