Hassan DC Restricts Plantation Worker Hours Due to Elephant Attacks
Imagine if elephants were roaming around your neighborhood.
In certain areas, some workers have been getting hurt by elephants.
To help keep people safe, the local government has made a new rule.
Workers in coffee and other plantations now have to work during specific times, from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening.
This is because elephants often move around early in the morning and late in the evening.
The new rules are meant to keep the workers safe by preventing them from being in the area when elephants are most active.
Hassan DC issued an order changing working hours for plantation workers in Belur.
The order affects workers in Arehalli, Bikkodu, and Kasaba hoblis.
The change in hours is due to recent elephant attacks in the area.
Four plantation workers have died in elephant attacks since February 2025.
Plantation workers are now restricted to working between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
