YSRC Supporters Join Ruling Telugu Desam in Nellore District
About 200 families in Nellore district said they were leaving the YSR Congress and joining the Telugu Desam party.
They said government development projects and welfare programmes influenced their decision.
Some families travelled in a motorcycle rally to meet Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.
He welcomed them and said they would be treated like other party members.
He listed several welfare schemes run by the coalition government.
Somireddy also accused the previous YSR Congress government of land irregularities and corruption.
Separately, 20 families in Bogole mandal joined the Telugu Desam in the presence of Kavali MLA Dagumati Krishna Reddy.
Those joining said they wanted to support village development and strengthen the party.
Around 200 families from Varkavipudi and Viswanatharaopeta shifted their allegiance from YSR Congress to the ruling Telugu Desam on Sunday.
The new members cited development and welfare initiatives under the coalition government as reasons for joining.
Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy welcomed entrants from Varkavipudi at his residence in Allipuram.
Somireddy highlighted welfare schemes and alleged land irregularities and corruption under the previous YSR Congress government.
In Bogole mandal, Kavali MLA Dagumati Krishna Reddy welcomed another 20 families, including opposition leader Pasam Ravindrababu.
