Former Banker Arrested for Rs 7.8-Lakh Signature Forgery Fraud

A woman who used to work at a bank has been arrested for tricking an elderly man and taking his money.

She pretended to accept his credit card when he wanted to give it back in 2020, but instead kept it and used it to shop online.

She also changed the phone number on his account so he would not get any alerts about the spending.

Then she signed his name without permission to cash in one of his savings deposits, called a fixed deposit, and took the money.

The elderly man had no idea any of this was happening because he did not receive text messages from the bank anymore.

In 2023, the bank called him about unpaid credit card bills, and that is when he learned his old card was being used by someone else.

The bank told the police, and they started looking for the former manager, who had quit her job.

She had changed her phone and home address to hide, but police found her by studying records of her old phone calls.

Police arrested her in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, and brought her back to Calcutta.
