Opposition Plans Third Motion to Remove Election Chief

Opposition Plans Third Motion to Remove Election Chief

Opposition parties want Parliament to consider removing Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

They are preparing a new notice for both houses of Parliament.

This would be their third attempt.

The plan follows a report about disagreements inside the Election Commission.

Two other commissioners reportedly objected to some decisions.

These decisions involved voter-registration forms and electoral rolls.

The Election Commission said disagreements can happen during normal discussions.

It also said its decisions are legally valid.

An earlier removal notice was rejected, while another submitted in April is still pending.
