Plogging Fitness Trend Launches Darjeeling Clean-Up Drive
Plogging, which means picking up litter while jogging, is now in Darjeeling.
This idea came from Sweden.
The Vik-Run Foundation is leading the charge, along with the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and Darjeeling municipality.
They are calling it the Mero Darjeeling campaign, encouraging people to run and clean up.
They'll have a competition where they weigh the trash collected.
The goal is to get people active and keep Darjeeling clean.
They also honored the people who already work to keep the town clean.
Plogging, a fitness trend combining jogging with litter removal, has reached Darjeeling.
The initiative was launched by the Vik-Run Foundation in partnership with local government.
The Mero Darjeeling campaign encourages youth to take up long-distance running and plogging.
A plogging competition will be held across 32 wards in Darjeeling.
The Darjeeling municipality's conservancy staff were felicitated during the event.
