Supreme Court Stays Mumbai Blasts Acquittal, Accused Won't Return to Jail
In 2006, bombs exploded on trains in Mumbai, killing many people.
Recently, a court said the people accused of doing it were not guilty.
Now, the highest court in the country has stepped in.
They've said that while the accused can stay free, the lower court's decision can't be used as an example for other cases.
The government appealed because they were worried about how this verdict could affect other similar cases.
This means the case is still being looked at legally, but the accused won't be put back in jail.
The Supreme Court stayed the Bombay High Court's verdict acquitting all 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts.
The court clarified that the accused need not return to jail, as they have already been released.
The Maharashtra government appealed the High Court's decision, citing concerns about its impact on other cases under MCOCA.
The Supreme Court decided the High Court judgment should not be treated as a precedent.
The blasts killed over 180 people on July 11, 2006, in Mumbai.
