Bengaluru Mandates e-Khatas for Property Ownership
Bengaluru is making it easier to prove you own property with something called an e-Khata.
It's like an electronic document that shows you're the owner.
Already, over 500,000 properties have one.
Starting July, if you own a property in Bengaluru, you'll need an e-Khata to do things like build or sell.
You can get one by going to a special help center or using a website.
You'll need to provide some documents, like proof of your identity and proof you own the property.
Then officials will check the information and send you your e-Khata electronically.
This new system should stop some problems, make things fairer, and speed things up.
Over 5.34 lakh properties in Bengaluru have received an e-Khata.
From July 1st, all BBMP properties need an e-Khata to apply for building plans or transfer ownership.
Help centers (melas) will be set up in all wards to assist property owners.
Property owners need to upload documents via the E-Aasthi portal or at melas.
The new system aims to reduce cheating, corruption, and increase transparency.
