Parker Solar Probe Achieves Record Speed During Sun Flyby
The Parker Solar Probe, a spacecraft from NASA, is doing another flyby of the Sun.
The probe reached a speed of 687,000 kilometers per hour, matching its previous record.
That's incredibly fast!
The mission aims to learn more about the Sun, like how solar wind is made and why the Sun's outer layer is so hot.
Scientists will use the data collected by the probe to better understand space weather, which can affect astronauts, satellites, and even power grids back on Earth.
The mission started in 2018.
The Parker Solar Probe completed its 25th flyby of the Sun.
The spacecraft equaled its record-setting speed of 687,000 km per hour.
Data from the encounter will be sent to Earth starting on September 23.
The mission studies the Sun's mysteries.
The Parker Solar Probe is part of NASA's Living With a Star program.
