Sensex, Nifty Fall as US-Iran Tensions Lift Oil Prices

Sensex, Nifty Fall as US-Iran Tensions Lift Oil Prices

Indian stock markets fell as tensions between the United States and Iran became worse.

Investors were concerned that this could make oil more expensive.

Higher oil prices can create problems for businesses and the wider economy.

A lack of normal rainfall in many areas may also affect farm production.

Another concern is that many companies are raising money through IPOs, which can reduce money available for regular stock trading.

Foreign investors sold equities again last week.

Company promoters also sold shares worth Rs 13,000 crore in August.

An analyst expects markets to stay jumpy and possibly fall in the short term, but some smaller companies may still perform well.
