Myanmar Denies Rohingya Genocide in ICJ Hearing

Myanmar Denies Rohingya Genocide in ICJ Hearing

Gambia, a country in Africa, went to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to say that Myanmar, a country in Asia, did bad things to a group of people called the Rohingya.

The Rohingya are Muslims, and Gambia says Myanmar tried to destroy them.

This is called genocide.

Myanmar says it did not do this and that it was just fighting terrorism.

The ICJ is like a big court for countries to solve problems.

Gambia has support from many Muslim countries.

The case is important because it might affect other cases about genocide.

Myanmar has been having problems since its military took over the government in 2021.

The military says it is doing okay, but other countries say it is not fair.
