Varanasi Implements Rs 250 Fine for Spitting, Higher Penalties for Other Sanitation Violations
In the city of Varanasi, people now have to pay money if they don't keep things clean.
If you spit on the street, you'll have to pay 250 rupees.
If you throw trash out of a car, it's a bigger fine.
There are also fines for leaving trash out for too long, not cleaning up after your pet dog, or throwing garbage into rivers.
These new rules are to make Varanasi a cleaner and healthier place.
Spitting in public in Varanasi now carries a fine of Rs 250.
Littering or spitting from a vehicle will incur a penalty of Rs 1,000.
Fines are also introduced for feeding stray animals (Rs 250) and pet owners failing to clean dog waste (Rs 500).
