Article Disputes Viral Claim About Attack at CJP Protest
A video from a protest was shared with claims that a girl was attacked while police did nothing.
This article says a different video angle changes how the incident looks.
It says protesters surrounded a car and attacked it, and that the person in a black shirt was a boy, not a girl.
The article also says the two men in the car were provoked, though that is the article’s account of what happened.
It criticizes politicians and social media users for sharing the first claim.
Separately, it reports that a woman named Mouli was pepper-sprayed after saying “Vande Mataram.”
The article’s claims are not independently verified by the information provided.
The article says posts by Congress accounts, Rahul Gandhi and others described a person in a protest video as a girl attacked by BJP-RSS supporters while police watched.
It argues that another angle shows protesters surrounding and attacking a car carrying two men, and says the person in a black T-shirt was a boy.
The article alleges the men were provoked by protesters, who shouted abuse and attacked the vehicle; these claims are presented from the article’s account of the footage.
It separately reports that a woman identified as Mouli was verbally abused and pepper-sprayed after raising the slogan “Vande Mataram.”
The article criticizes the spread of the viral claim and says Delhi Police had shown restraint during the protests.
