Telugu Language Advocates Link Local Education to National Development

A conference about the Telugu language took place in Vijayawada.

It honoured Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Pantulu, a well-known Telugu language reformer.

Speakers said children should be able to learn, think and work in their local language.

They said this could help create jobs and include more people in development.

The organisers asked the government to reserve 20 per cent of government jobs for Telugu-medium students.

They also spoke about making election information and government work available in Telugu.

A book containing older reports about teaching and examining Telugu was released.

The organisation plans to start a YouTube channel and bring back its publication called Ammanudi.
