Tamil Nadu Congress Skips MDMK Event

Tamil Nadu Congress Skips MDMK Event

The Congress party in Tamil Nadu decided not to attend an event organized by their ally, the MDMK, because the event's publicity material included a photo of a controversial figure, Velupillai Prabhakaran, who was the leader of a banned group called the LTTE.

The Congress party felt it was not right to be part of an event that included this photo.

The MDMK and Congress are part of a bigger group called the DMK alliance, which is preparing for an upcoming election.

Even though the Congress skipped the event, they said their alliance with the MDMK and DMK is still strong.

Other leaders from different parties attended the event, which was about promoting social harmony and highlighting the achievements of the Dravidian model of governance.

The BJP party has questioned the Congress' position on a related issue, but the Congress maintains that their alliance is intact and differences will be resolved.

There is speculation that the ties between the DMK and Congress might snap before the 2026 Assembly elections.
