Mamdani to End NYC Encampment Sweeps
Zohran Mamdani, who will be the next mayor of New York City, has said that he will stop the city from clearing homeless encampments.
This is different from what the current mayor, Eric Adams, has been doing since 2022.
Mamdani believes that instead of clearing these encampments, the city should help homeless people find places to live.
He thinks this is a better way to solve the problem of homelessness in the city.
He will start this new policy when he becomes mayor in January.
Zohran Mamdani, the incoming NYC mayor, will end encampment sweeps.
Current Mayor Eric Adams has been clearing encampments since 2022.
Mamdani's administration will focus on connecting homeless to housing.
The policy change will take effect in January when Mamdani takes office.
Mamdani stated that the current approach cannot be seen as successful without providing housing.
