Singer Akon arrested in Georgia on an active warrant for suspended license
Famous singer Akon was arrested in Georgia because he missed a court date for a ticket related to driving with a suspended license.
The ticket was issued after his Tesla truck ran out of battery on the road back in September.
Police found out his license was suspended from an earlier missed court date.
An active warrant for his arrest was in place, and police took him into custody when they encountered him recently.
Akon also has a significant net worth estimated at $50 million from his music and various business ventures, including a large development project in Senegal.
Meanwhile, his long-time partner has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, although Akon has spoken about practicing polygamy.
Akon was arrested in Georgia on November 7 due to an active bench warrant for a suspended license case.
The warrant originated from a September incident where his Tesla Cybertruck stalled, and police discovered his license was suspended after he missed a January 2023 court date.
His net worth is estimated at $50 million, accumulated through music royalties, touring, and business ventures like Konvict Muzik and the Akon City project.
Akon has nine children from various relationships and has spoken about practicing polygamy.
His long-time partner, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce on September 11, 2025, after nearly 29 years of marriage.
