Atal Pension Yojana Crosses 76.5 Million Subscribers
The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) is a government program in India to help people save for retirement.
It's like a savings plan just for when you get older.
Over 76.5 million people have signed up.
People aged 18 to 40 can join, and they contribute money regularly.
When they turn 60, they start getting a guaranteed monthly pension.
The amount they get depends on how much they contributed.
Women make up almost half of the subscribers now.
The money is kept safe and managed by a special authority, and you can even get tax benefits.
APY has enrolled over 76.5 million subscribers as of April 2025.
The total pension corpus under the scheme has grown to ₹45,974.67 crore.
Launched in June 2015, APY provides retirement security to India’s unorganised workforce.
The scheme offers a guaranteed monthly pension of ₹1,000 to ₹5,000, starting at age 60.
Women account for 48% of all subscribers, and over 55% of new enrollments in FY 2024–25 were by women.
