Thailand to hold elections on Feb 8
Thailand is going to have an important vote on February 8.
This is because the country's leader, the Prime Minister, asked to end the current government and the king agreed.
The Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, had a disagreement with the opposition party, which caused some problems in the country.
People will vote to choose 500 new leaders for the country, and each party can suggest up to three people for the Prime Minister position.
The results will be announced by April 9, and the new government will start working soon after that.
News stations in Thailand, like Thai PBS and PPTV, are saying this.
Thailand will hold parliamentary elections on February 8, earlier than expected, following the dissolution of parliament.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul dissolved parliament after falling out with the opposition People’s Party, causing political turmoil.
Thais will vote to elect 500 lawmakers, with 400 constituency seats and 100 party-list seats, and each party can submit up to three prime ministerial candidates.
Official poll results will be announced by April 9, and the new parliament must convene within 15 days to elect speakers and a prime minister.
Opinion polls show the People’s Party is Thailand’s most popular, potentially posing a challenge to Anutin's re-election.
