India Approves Rs 1.1 Trillion Defence Acquisitions

India’s government has taken the first step toward buying new defence equipment.

The planned purchases are worth about Rs 1.1 trillion.

They will support the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Most of the equipment, about 98 per cent, is expected to come from Indian companies.

The Army may receive special vehicles and Advanced Light Helicopters.

The Navy may get new radars and marine gas turbines for warships.

The Air Force may receive equipment to improve its aircraft and jamming systems.

The approval is not the final purchase, but it officially recognizes that the military needs this equipment.
