Expanding NPS Investment Pool for Better Returns
Imagine your retirement money is like a garden.
Right now, it can only grow certain types of plants (investments).
The government wants to let it grow more kinds of plants, like gold and silver, which could earn you more money in the long run.
They also want to let you choose how risky you want your garden to be, so you can pick the plants that fit you best.
They are also changing the rules so that you can decide to withdraw money sooner.
These changes are designed to help your retirement money grow better and give you more choices.
PFRDA is considering expanding NPS investment options to include gold, silver, venture capital, and private credit.
Currently, NPS investments include equities, bonds, government securities, and alternative investment funds.
Non-government NPS subscribers can choose investment options and allocate funds across different asset classes.
Equity exposure for non-government subscribers will be up to 100% starting October 1.
The regulator proposed reducing compulsory annuitisation and allowing early NPS withdrawals.
