Bengaluru Dropped from T20 World Cup 2026 Venues After Stampede
The 2026 T20 Cricket World Cup will be played in India and Sri Lanka.
India has picked five big cities: Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai to host the matches.
The final game will be held in Ahmedabad, in the world's largest cricket stadium.
Sri Lanka will also host some games and will be a neutral location for Pakistan's matches.
Sadly, Bengaluru was not chosen to host any games this time.
This is because of a terrible accident where a stampede happened at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during an IPL celebration, leading to many deaths.
Because of this sad event, the stadium hasn't been able to get the necessary permissions to host big international games.
The ICC will share the full schedule soon, and India is entering as the previous year's champions.
India and Sri Lanka will co-host the Men's T20 World Cup in February-March 2026.
Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium is selected to host the tournament's final match.
Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium has been excluded as a venue due to safety concerns after a fatal stampede incident.
The selected Indian cities for hosting matches are Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai.
Sri Lanka will serve as a neutral venue for Pakistan's matches, with Colombo as a potential host city.
