IndiGo's December 2025 Flight Disruptions
IndiGo, a big airline in India, had a lot of problems in December 2025.
They had to cancel 5,689 flights, which affected over 9 lakh passengers.
The government said the cancellations were much more than what IndiGo had told everyone before.
The problem happened because the airline didn't follow the rules for giving pilots enough rest.
The government also fined IndiGo and told them to do better.
The airline's boss said they made mistakes and are sorry.
Other airlines also had some cancellations, but IndiGo had the most.
The government is making sure the airline fixes its problems.
IndiGo cancelled 5,689 flights in December 2025, affecting over 9 lakh passengers.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation revealed the cancellations were more than double what IndiGo had previously stated.
The disruptions were due to operational failures in scheduling pilots according to updated Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) rules.
IndiGo accounted for 82% of all flight cancellations and 93% of affected passengers in December 2025.
The DGCA imposed a penalty of Rs 22.20 crore on IndiGo and required a bank guarantee of Rs 50 crore for compliance.
