Budget 2026 Printing at North Block
The Union Budget 2026 will be printed at North Block instead of the new finance ministry offices at Kartavya Bhawan.
This is because the new complex does not have a secure printing press needed for such a confidential task.
The printing process is very important and secretive, so staff will be locked in the press area for about two weeks to make sure no one leaks any information.
A special 'halwa' ceremony will happen next week to mark the start of this process.
The Budget will be presented on February 1, 2026, by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Even though the Budget has been paperless since 2021, some physical copies are still printed for official use.
Union Budget 2026-27 will be printed at North Block due to lack of secure printing facility at Kartavya Bhawan.
