Sebi proposes separate Master Circular for Clearing Corporations

Sebi proposes separate Master Circular for Clearing Corporations

Sebi is the government agency in India that watches over the stock market.

Clearing corporations are special companies that make sure when someone buys or sells stocks, the deal finishes correctly.

Right now, the rules for clearing corporations are spread across two big rulebooks.

Sebi wants to put all these rules into one new rulebook, called the Master Circular for Clearing Corporations.

This would make the rules easier to find and understand.

It would also remove rules that are repeated in other rulebooks.

For example, some rules about stock brokers already exist in another rulebook, so they could be deleted from the old one.

Sebi also wants clearing companies to share more information about the safety fund that protects trades.

People and companies can send their opinions about this plan to Sebi until August 27.

After hearing everyone's comments, Sebi will decide what to do.
