Chidambaram Highlights 'Home-Grown' Terrorists Amid Delhi Blast Arrests
A former Indian minister named P. Chidambaram said there are two kinds of terrorists: those trained outside India and those who grow up in India to become terrorists.
He mentioned this before, even when talking about a past attack in Pahalgam, and some people made fun of him.
He thinks the government knows this is true, even if they don't talk about it much.
He also wonders why Indians, even smart ones, become terrorists.
This comes up now because police have arrested some doctors in connection with a recent bomb blast near the Red Fort in Delhi.
These doctors are accused of being part of a terror group with ties to a known group called Jaish-e-Mohammed.
When Chidambaram said this before, the Home Minister, Amit Shah, said he was defending Pakistan.
Chidambaram says his words were misunderstood and that people were spreading false information.
Former Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram stated that terrorists can be either foreign-trained or 'home-grown'.
He mentioned previously discussing 'home-grown' terrorists, including in relation to the Pahalgam attack, and noted he was criticized for it.
Chidambaram suggested the government's silence on the matter implies their awareness of 'home-grown' terrorists.
His comments were made following several arrests in connection with a recent blast near Delhi's Red Fort, involving doctors accused of being part of a terror group with Jaish-e-Mohammed links.
Chidambaram also questioned the circumstances that lead Indian citizens, even educated ones, to become terrorists.
