Debi Ghat in Kolkata Undergoes Major Makeover
Imagine a pond called Debi Ghat getting a big upgrade!
It's like giving it a brand new look.
They're digging it up, building new sides, adding pretty fences and paths for people to walk on, and even planting trees.
They are also cleaning up the water!
It will be ready for important celebrations soon, but the work might not be completely finished.
This is important because it is where people put their idols in the water during festivals.
Some of the local people have to use it, as they can no longer use the park nearby, making the ghat even more important.
Debi Ghat in Dakshindari is undergoing a major makeover, with a Rs 4.5 crore allocation.
The project includes dredging, building embankments, adding fencing, walkways, and plantations.
The revamped ghat will feature a circular shape, a decorative shelter, and improved water quality measures.
The renovation aims to be completed by December, but the ghat is planned to be ready for Puja immersion in October.
Due to a ban on outside pujas in Dum Dum Park, the reliance on Debi Ghat for immersion is increasing.
