Locked Nandigram TMC Office Reflects Party’s Political Decline

A Trinamool Congress office in Nandigram is locked and quiet.

It used to be a busy place filled with party workers and leaders.

Local people say it has stayed closed since the Assembly election results.

Nandigram was important to Mamata Banerjee’s political rise.

The area was also central to a 2007 movement against land acquisition.

One former supporter said older activists felt forgotten by the party.

He said they had wanted to speak with Mamata Banerjee but could not meet her.

A by-election is scheduled in Nandigram for October 6.

The report says the party will not contest that election using its own candidate or symbol.
