Rythu Vedikas Starved of Maintenance Funds for Four Years
Rythu Vedikas are community centers for farmers in Telangana.
They need money to keep clean, pay electricity, and hold meetings.
For four years, the government hasn’t given the money, so the officers are using their own cash.
In 2024, a video system was added to help farmers talk to experts.
The centers were built in 258 places across the district.
Rythu Vedikas across Karimnagar district have lacked maintenance funding for four years.
Agriculture officials have been paying Rs 3,000 monthly, later increased to Rs 9,000, but still insufficient.
AEOs are covering electricity, sanitation, and other costs from personal pockets.
258 Rythu Vedikas were built, with 76 in Karimnagar, 71 in Jagtial, 57 in Rajanna‑Sircilla, 54 in Peddapalli.
In 2024, a video‑conference system costing Rs 4.5 lakh was installed to connect farmers with experts.
