Adani to Expand Airport Portfolio with $11 Billion Investment
Adani Enterprises is planning to spend a lot of money ($11 billion) to build and manage more airports in India.
They already run eight airports and want to bid for 11 more.
The company is starting a new airport near Mumbai called Navi Mumbai International Airport, which will begin operations on December 25.
This airport can handle a lot of passengers and will help reduce crowding at the existing Mumbai airport.
Adani believes that air travel in India is growing quickly and will continue to do so for many years.
They are focusing on building and managing airports rather than running airlines because they think that's where they can be most successful.
Adani Enterprises plans to bid for all 11 airports the Indian government intends to lease to private operators.
The company will invest $11 billion (₹1 lakh crore) in airport infrastructure over the next five years.
Adani currently manages eight airports in India and is preparing to launch the Navi Mumbai International Airport on December 25, 2024.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport has an initial capacity of 20 million passengers annually, expandable to 90 million.
Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL) is largely EBITDA positive but requires more cash for ongoing capital expenditure.
