Meta Expands AI Agents for Small Businesses, Targets Enterprise Revenue

Meta makes much of its money from showing advertisements to people.

Now it wants to sell computer programs that help businesses do their work.

Its Muse agent can connect to business tools like online stores, accounting programs and messaging services.

Meta is starting with small businesses, which often do not have technology experts of their own.

The company also created a platform for selling AI models, agents and related technology to larger companies.

Meta hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai, a former MongoDB chief executive, to lead this business effort.

The plan could give Meta a new source of money besides advertising.

However, companies such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Salesforce already have strong business-software relationships, so Meta’s success is not yet certain.
