Indian Govt Warns About Dangerous Chrome Issue
The Indian government has warned Chrome users about a serious problem in the browser that can be used by hackers to attack computers.
This warning is for people using Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
The problem is in older versions of Chrome, and hackers can use it to take control of your computer if you visit a bad website.
The government's computer security team, CERT-IN, said this is a big risk.
To stay safe, you should update your Chrome browser to the latest version right away.
You can do this by going to the menu in Chrome, clicking on 'Help,' and then 'About Google Chrome.'
This will check for updates and install the latest version.
The Indian government's CERT-IN issued a high-severity alert about vulnerabilities in Google Chrome on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
The vulnerabilities include out-of-bounds read/write in V8 and use-after-free in WebGPU, which can be exploited by attackers through malicious webpages.
Affected Chrome versions are prior to 143.0.7499.146/.147 for Windows and Mac, and prior to 143.0.7499.146 for Linux.
Users are advised to update their Chrome browsers immediately to the latest version to mitigate the risk.
The update can be installed by accessing the Chrome menu, clicking on 'Help,' and then 'About Google Chrome.'
