Nium Joins Visa's Stablecoin Settlement Pilot for Cross-Border Payments
Imagine sending money to someone in another country.
Usually, it takes a few days because banks have to do a lot of paperwork and only move money at certain times.
Visa, a big payment company, is trying a new way to send money faster using special digital coins called stablecoins.
Nium, a company that helps send money across borders, is joining this test.
Now, Nium can use these stablecoins to settle payments with Visa, kind of like using a digital bridge.
This should make sending money internationally quicker and easier, like sending a message instantly on the internet, instead of waiting for slow mail.
Nium is participating in Visa's stablecoin settlement pilot program.
This initiative allows partners to settle payments using select stablecoins on supported blockchains.
Nium will utilize stablecoins, including Circle's USDC, for settlements with Visa.
The goal is to modernize cross-border payments by reducing settlement friction, costs, and delays.
This collaboration builds on the existing multi-year partnership between Visa and Nium.
