Dr Reddy's Q1 Profit Up 1%, Revenue Climbs 11%
Imagine a company called Dr. Reddy's that makes medicines.
They just announced how much money they made in the first three months of the year.
Their profit, which is the money they have left after paying for everything, only went up a little bit – by 1%.
But, they sold a lot more medicines!
Their total sales, which they call revenue, increased by 11%.
The company did well because they sold more of their brand-name medicines and some special products.
However, they expect it might be harder to make money on some of their generic medicines in the US soon.
Dr. Reddy's Laboratories reported a 1% increase in net profit for Q1, reaching ₹1,409 crore.
Revenue for the June-ended quarter rose by 11% to ₹8,545 crore.
The increase in revenue was from ₹7,672 crore in the same period last year.
The company's growth was attributed to strength in branded markets and the Nicotine Replacement Therapy portfolio.
Pricing pressure is expected to intensify in the US generics market for Lenalidomide.
