VPA Achieves 60 Million Tonnes Cargo Milestone
Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has set a new record by handling 60 million tonnes of cargo in just 249 days of the current financial year 2025-26.
This is much faster than the 273 days it took last year and 275 days the year before.
The port is working hard to improve and has set a big goal of handling 90 million tonnes this year.
The chairperson, M Angamuthu, said this success is because of the hard work of the employees, good strategies, and trust from their partners.
They are focusing on better infrastructure, using digital technology, and making the port more environmentally friendly.
Despite challenges in global trade, VPA is doing well by focusing on different types of cargo and working closely with trade partners.
VPA handled 60 million tonnes of cargo in 249 days of FY26, a new record.
This surpasses previous years' performance of 273 days in FY25 and 275 days in FY24.
The achievement is attributed to operational efficiency and strategic initiatives.
VPA aims to reach an annual target of 90 million tonnes for FY26.
Key focus areas include infrastructure development, digitalisation, and green port initiatives.
