South Korea Blames North Korean Mines for DMZ Blast

Two South Korean personnel were hurt by an explosion in the Demilitarized Zone on September 21.

South Korea says North Korean mines caused the blast.

Its defence minister said placing the mines there broke the agreement that stopped the Korean War.

Investigators from South Korea and the United Nations Command found another North Korean mine nearby.

Officials said the mines probably did not float or move there by themselves.

They said the mines were clearly south of the Military Demarcation Line.

South Korea says it has several possible responses and will use them in stages.

North Korea has not publicly said what it thinks about the accusation.
