Mahabubabad Candidate Demands Money Return After Election Loss
In a village in Mahabubabad, a woman named Bhukya Kousalya ran for a local leader position called Sarpanch.
She spent a lot of money to try and win the election by giving money and other things to voters.
However, she lost by just 27 votes.
After losing, she went to the voters and asked them to return the money she had given them.
She also asked them to promise that they had voted for her.
This made some people in the village upset, and they had arguments with her.
Some people think she was too trusting in thinking that giving money would make her win, and that most people who spend money like this don't ask for it back.
Bhukya Kousalya spent a substantial amount of money during her campaign for the Sarpanch post in Somla Thanda village, Mahabubabad Mandal.
She lost the election to Islavath Sujatha by a narrow margin of 27 votes.
After losing, Kousalya went door-to-door demanding that voters return the money she had given them.
She asked voters to take a pledge that they had voted for her, leading to verbal altercations with villagers.
A political analyst noted that most candidates who spend money do not ask for its return, unlike Kousalya.
