Maharashtra Launches Housing Reforms for Mumbai
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde have started new plans to help people in Mumbai find affordable homes.
They announced a 'housing for all' scheme that gives extra space for free to build small homes for people who need them.
The plan also helps move some radar stations so that more buildings can be rebuilt.
The government will pay to move the radars, and some of the land will be turned into a park for everyone to use.
Additionally, they announced a 'Pagdi-Free Mumbai' scheme to help over 2.5 lakh families own their own homes, an amnesty scheme for house owners without occupation certificates, and a housing bank for mill workers.
These plans are meant to make it easier and more affordable for people to have good homes in Mumbai.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde announced a 'housing for all' scheme and other housing reforms for Mumbai.
The scheme covers areas like the Funnel Zone, Juhu Military Transmission Station, and Kandivali-Malad COD complex, as well as lands adjacent to defence establishments.
Free Floor Space Index (FSI) of up to 300 sq ft is provided for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and free reconstruction for Lower Income Group (LIG) up to 600 sq ft.
High-frequency radar centres at Dahisar and Juhu will be relocated to enable redevelopment in those areas, with the Maharashtra government bearing the cost of relocation.
The 'Pagdi-Free Mumbai' scheme aims to help over 2.5 lakh families own their own homes, with over 1900 housing buildings built before 1960 to get relief from court cases.
